22nd May - Release Date Pushed Back

The Supergirl DVD has been pushed back to the first week of August. Keep it here for the very latest. Originally, it was set for 25th July. I don't know if this has been confirmed by Anchor Bay, only time will tell.

1st April - Pre-ordering

The site www.DVDWave.com   has both versions of Supergirl DVD Available for pre-order. And right now the site isn't charging sales tax and standard shipping, while it takes about 2-3 weeks, it is free shipping! The total right now for the Special Edition was $26.99 down from a price of around $45!
Thanks to Mavcon for the alert.

8th March - 7th MARCH CORRECTIONS

Scott Bosco's official credit on this release is Special Products Consultant. He aided in the locating of the various
versions of SUPERGIRL that will be seen on the DVD release. He'll also acquired the film's director and speaks with him on the commentary.

The comic origins are NOT being ignored, it's simply that the history and production of the film is of utmost concern.

Sorry for any confusion on my part

7th March - DVD CORRECTIONS

The DVD features ONE commentary, director Jeannot Szwarc has done it. Helen Slater wasn't involved, it is unclear what her involvement will be now, maybe she might be doing a introduction. Bit of a shame Helen didn't bother with the commentary!

Scott Bosco isn't a Superman expert, he's an expert in video, he is supervising the project. Also, this DVD doesn't feature anything about the comics, they have no interest in the comics.

28th February - DVD DELAYED FOR THE LAST TIME

Anchor Bay have pushed back the release of this DVD Set till 25th July because Helen Slater will be providing a commentary as well.

25th February - HELEN SLATER

Kudos to Anchor Bay, Helen Slater will be providing commentary on the Supergirl DVD. This Limited Edition set sounds fantastic, I will be ordering it

17th February - VHS LATEST

The initial VHS release in June with the DVD will be the 125 minute version not the 140. This will allow for the "Making of" special to be included on the VHS as well as the DVD. The 140 release on VHS will come at a later date.

14th February - DVD DELAYED FOR A GOOD REASON

The date is no longer May 9th is June 6th. This was done due to some late-breaking supplementary additions. Here are the features (as of right now...more details will come later of course)

The THX Approved Single Disc Version of the "International" Cut (125 min) will contain:

- THX Approved
- Widescreen Presentation (2.35 :1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs
- Extended "International" Version (125 mins.)
- Re-mastered "Making of Supergirl" Featurette
- Theatrical Trailers and TV Spots
- Audio Commentary with director Jeannot Szwarc and "Superman" expert Scott Bosco
- Extensive Booklet with interviews and photos
- Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio

The 2-Disc Limited Edition Set (50,000 pcs only) will contain all of the above plus

The 140 Minute Version with never-before-seen footage.

26th January 2000

Supergirl will be 16x9 enhanced (ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN)

25th January 2000

Some details on the upcoming (and much anticipated) DVD release of Supergirl, which is tentatively scheduled for this May.

The THX Approved edition, which will be available individually or as part of the Limited Edition, will run 125 minutes which is longer than the original theatrical version that was released in the US. It will also include a re-mastered "The Making of Supergirl" special, as well as trailers and television spots. Additional extras are still being worked on and will be announced later.

The 2 Disc Limited Edition DVD will include the above, plus a disc containing a never-before-seen 140 minute version that was struck from the original uncut negative!

19th January 2000

Supergirl will be THX Enhanced and presented in widescreen with Dolby 5.1 audio. The two disc limited edition will be similar to the Army of Darkness LE released last year.

The Limited Edition will have extras (to be announced) but will contain the theatrical and full-length international versions of the film There will also be the original ABC making of Supergirl documentary presented as well
.

14th January 2000

Now that the Supergirl section is part of the site, I will be updating you on the DVD progress. The DVD will be released on the 9th May on Anchor Bay Entertainment. There will be 2 DVD packages to choose from, or you might buy both if you are so inclined.

The Limited Edition Double Disc Presentation will be limited to 50,000 copies only
Full Length Theatrical Cut (THX Approved)
Extended International Version
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound

The regular DVD will feature :
Full Length Theatrical Cut (THX Approved)
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound

You might want to reserve the Limited Edition when pre-ordering begins, not sure if this will be a popular title, though.. Not sure if the film will be presented in it's original widescreen aspect ratio, or the butchered (pan and scan) version, or both. I am 99% sure the widescreen version will be presented, I'm waiting for Anchor Bay to get in touch with me so I can clarify.
