LEGO Dimensions Adds Supergirl – But You’ll Have To Wait Awhile

LEGO Dimensions has launched its “Season 2” wave of new toy and game expansion packs starting in September, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Supergirl will be added to the game. However, WB is introducing Supergirl initially as a very limited exclusive: from September to March 28, 2017 she will only be available for purchase in new PlayStation 4 Starter Packs. This means if you already own the PS4 version of the game, you would have to buy it all over again. Supergirl will be released for all platforms on March 28, 2017.

Six months is a long time to wait for a character to be made available to the majority of players, so this announcement is very frustrating. It follows a current trend of timed exclusives that has hurt games like Destiny, whose developer was eventually forced to release console-exclusive content on all platforms after consumer outcry.

Warner Bros. has received well-deserved criticism for releasing LEGO Dimensions in a confusing and piece-meal fashion during its first year of release. Time will tell if Dimensions can achieve the level of popularity that Disney Infinity enjoyed prior to its premature cancellation.
