Supergirl 1×09 Promo and Sneak Peeks – “Blood Bonds”

The return of SUPERGIRL is only two nights away, and it looks like another exciting and humour-filled episode.

“With Astra in captivity at the DEO, her husband, Non, captures Hank, leading to a tense standoff between the two sides. Meanwhile Kara continues to refute Cat’s allegations that she is Supergirl, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Jan. 4 at 8/7c.”

In the promo Kara discovers Hank is from Mars (yay!), finds a creepy Supergirl doll in a box (Toyman foreshadowing!), poor James gets beat up bad by a shockingly vicious Max Lord, all while trying unsuccessfully to convince Cat that she’s a just a “normal, boring person” and definitely not not a Supergirl (how very Silver Age). I’m very disappointed that they’re walking back the Cat discovery, but it makes for some great comic relief.

The doll is creepy and perfect and I kind of want it! Kara doesn’t know it yet, but Winn’s evil father will be showing up in episode 10, appropriately titled ‘Childish Things’. Winn referred to his father being in prison in the Thanksgiving episode (‘Livewire’) and that he was a very bad man. Episode 10 is going to be full of Winn Feels, as his father, aka the Toyman, will be coming for him on the Jan 18th episode.

“Winslow Schott, Sr. is a classic D.C. supervillain, a mad criminal genius known as Toyman – and Winn’s estranged father. Toyman weaponizes toys to wreak destruction and revenge but is ultimately driven by one thing – the obsessive desire to reunite with his beloved son.”

Sneak Peek 1 – Aftermath at Max Lord’s

Max is in full asshole mode, and Supergirl’s smoldering glare is a joy to watch.

Sneak Peek 2 – Act Normal

This clip teases a hilarious scene in James’ office where Kara tries to convince James and Winn to act ‘really, super normal’ – but ‘no, not SUPER’ – as part of her utterly doomed attempt to reverse Cat’s realization that she’s Supergirl. Cue disaster. I just want to watch an entire episode about these three getting into hijinks.

Sneak Peek 3 – Hank Sasses Non

Non bores me to death, but I love Hank’s sarcastic comeback.
