Happy Birthday Supergirl!

Dear Supergirl,

I’m one of your biggest fans! I read in a twitter from your agent, Sterling Gates, that you celebrated your birthday this week! Congratulations! You’re probably very busy right now and won’t get this for a while, but I wanted you to know that you’re my biggest hero and I’ve been a huge fan of yours for a long time. Don’t worry about what Cat Grant and some of those media people say, they’re just jealous. There are many people who respect and admire you and appreciate all you’ve done for Earth since your arrival.

It’s too bad that you couldn’t celebrate this day with your family and friends, but I understand you’re on a mission to Bizarro World. When you return, could you autograph this enclosed picture I took of you and BizarroGirl together? I had a better one that my friend snapped, but she tried to get BizarroGirl to autograph it and BizarroGirl said something about you being so very ugly in it that she would break the camera so everyone could fight over enjoying the picture. I think. Next time I’ll ask Jimmy Olson to take the picture. He seems to be good at getting shots in situations that no one else survives.

Did you know that Laura Vandervoort, the actress who played you in some TV specials, also has her birthday on September 22? That’s so cool! I liked Laura’s portrayal of you, but I don’t think they got your character right sometimes, and some of the stories were kind of strange. But I understand it’s not supposed to be the real story, because you can never reveal that!

I really like your new haircut, it’s very cute! My mom says it’s just like the haircut you had when she was a girl, but how could she remember you as a girl when you only arrived on Earth a few years ago? My mom says it’s because of all the “crises” that happened when I was growing up, but I don’t know what she’s talking about. I don’t remember any of that.

Have a great birthday celebration when you return from space. You deserve it!

Love from your #1 fan,

P.S. Someone told me that last year was really your 50th birthday, or maybe it was your 50th anniversary of your arrival on Earth, but I said that you hadn’t been in suspended animation for that long. Were you really born in 1959? If you were, I think your publicists at DC Comics really should have done something amazing to celebrate such a big anniversary!
