Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 2, Daring New Adventures of Supergirl Vol. 2, and more Supergirl Collections for 2017-2018
The DC Comics Fall 2017 catalog has been released on Edelweiss and once again there is a lot of great stuff for Supergirl fans, in addition to the books already announced for this summer. As always, Collected Editions has the full breakdown.
Supergirl: The Silver Age Vol. 1, due out July 25, 2017 is a softcover collection of stories from Action Comics #252-284.
This paperback covers the same issues previously released in Supergirl Archives Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (short by one issue) but at a much more affordable price.
At 384 pages, it looks like DC Comics plans to reprint the Action Comics run over 4 softcover volumes as a companion to the high end omnibus volumes.
Collects Action Comics #308-333, #335-340, #342, #344-346, #348-350, #353-354, #356-359, #361-372 and #374-376, originally published 1964-1969 (the missing issues are all reprints).
Daring New Adventures of Supergirl Vol. 2 is due out July 18, 2017. This completes the 1982-1984 series. Good stuff.
A while ago there was an Amazon listing for Supergirl: The Bronze Age Vol. 1 that quickly disappeared from the search that would have collected Adventure Comics #397-402 and 404-424, Supergirl #1-11 (there was no issue #11) and Superman Family #165 (you can still see the listing here). DC has really been accelerating their hardcover reprint collections lately, so I believe it’s only a matter of time before we see the release of 2 or 3 omnibuses containing Adventure Comics #381-424 (which spans the transition from Silver Age to Bronze Age), Supergirl #1-10, and the Supergirl stories from Superman Family. Scans of those issues will be available on this site until we hear something.
The 2005-2011 Supergirl series continues to be reprinted in double-size volumes. This volume collects Supergirl #34-44, covering issues originally collected in Who is Superwoman? plus the previously excluded #35-36 and #44.
I look forward to a future Vol. 5 covering Friends & Fugitives and Death and the Family and a Vol. 6 reprinting Bizarrogirl and the never-reprinted issues #60-67 by James Peaty & Bernard Chang and Kelly Sue DeConnick & ChrisCross. DeConnick’s 3-issue story was a wonderful and fitting tribute to the Girl of Steel.
Collect Supergirl #7-11 and stories from Batgirl Annual #1.
